Food and Drink
Rental of Inshriach is on a self catering basis but there are plenty of other options available. We can usually arrange a chef for anything from one evening to a full week. You can arrange to have him cover your whole holiday or just order a selection of local produce tailored to suit your budget and the size of your party.
The Edwardian kitchen gardens at Inshriach are extensive and increasingly productive and we hope to soon be able to supply the estate with home grown salads and vegetables. We are also in the process of acquiring an alcohol license to cover all guests staying on the estate so you will be able to place an order with us to be delivered / collected when you arrive. For updates on those visit our blog.
If you are eating out we highly recommend the Old Bridge Inn, a fine pub with good food and regular music. Our favourite chef, Allan Heaney, has just opened his One Pot borrowed restaurant at the Old School at Rothiemurchus, open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at the moment.
The Old School Shop at Rothiemurchus sells meat from the estate, has the best selection of whisky and wine in the area and good local cheeses.
Mackinnons of Speyside is an excellent butcher in Aviemore.
Heading away from Aviemore and just past loch Insh is Kincraig Stores, a lovely little village shop and post office that reminds you what life used to be like (and which has some amazing smoked trout pate, among other goodness).
Right next door to us is the well-known Inshriach Alpine Nursery Garden. As well the plants, they have an excellent cake and coffee shop open every day except Wednesday. Whole cakes to take away can be ordered in advance.
Last but not least, there is a Tesco in Aviemore, open every day.
